He replied: 'This is the right course for Me. You shall have no power
over My servants, except the sinners who follow you. They are all
destined for Hell. It has seven gates, and through each gate (goes) a
portion of them. But the righteous shall dwell amongst gardens and
fountains; in peace and safety they shall enter them. We shall remove
all hatred from their hearts, and they shall recline on couches face to
face, a band of brothers. Toil shall not weary them there, nor shall they
ever be removed from it.'
Tell My servants that I am the Forgiving, the Merciful, and that My
punishment is dire indeed.
Tell them of Ibrahim's guests. They went in to him and said: 'Peace,'
but he replied: 'We fear your intent. '
'Do not be alarmed,' they answered. 'We come to you with good news.
You shall have a son possessing knowledge.'
He said: 'Do you bring me such news in my old age? Of what do you
giveme good news?'
They said: 'We have made known to you the truth. Do not be one of
those who despair.'
He said: 'Who but a sinner would despair of Allah's mercy?' (Then)
he said: 'Messengers, what is your errand? '
They replied: 'We are sent to a guilty people. Except Lut's family, we
shall deliver them all except his wife.' We had decreed that she should
remainwith those whowere to stay behind.
And when Our envoys came to the house of Lut, he said to them: 'I do
not knowyou.'
