judges.'
He said: 'O Nuh, he was no kinsman of yours. This is not a righteous
deed. Do not question Me about things you know nothing of. I
admonish you lest you become an ignorant man.'
He said: 'My Lord, I seek refuge with You from asking thee that of
which I have no knowledge. If You do not pardon me and have mercy
onme, I shall be among the losers.'
It was said: 'ONuh, descendwith peace fromUs and blessings on you
and on nations (descending) from those with you.And there are nations
for whomWe provide, and then a painful torment from Us will afflict
them.'
These are announcements of the unseen which we reveal to you;
neither you nor your people knew them. Have patience; the (good) end
is for the righteous.
ToAad We sent their brother Hud. He said: 'My people, serve Allah;
you have no God but Him. You are only fabricators. My people, I ask of
you no recompense. My reward is only with HimWho createdme.Will
you not understand?
'My people, seek forgiveness of your Lord and turn to Him in
repentance. He will send fromHeaven abundant rain upon you; He will
add strength to your strength. Do not turn away fromHimguilty.'
They said: 'O Hud, you have given us no clear proof. We will not
forsake our gods at your behest, nor will we believe in you.We can only
suppose that our gods have afflicted youwith evil.'
He said: 'I call Allah for witness, and you too bear witness that I am
