ThusWe seal up the hearts of the transgressors.
Then We sent forth Musa and Harun with Our signs to Pharaoh and
his nobles. But they were arrogant, for they were wicked men. When
the truth came to them fromUs they said: 'This is plainmagic.'
Musa said: 'Is this what you say of the truth when it has come to you?
Is this magic?Magicians never prosper!'
They said: 'Have you come to turn us away from the faith of our
fathers, so that you two may have the command in the land? We will
never believe in you.'
Then Pharaoh said: 'Bring every skilledmagician tomy presence.'
When the magicians came, Musa said to them: 'Cast down what you
may.' And when they had thrown, he said: 'What you have brought is
deception. Surely God will render it vain.Allah does not bless the work
of the evil-doers. By His words He vindicates the truth, much as the
guiltymay dislike it.'
So a few of his people believed in Musa for fear of Pharaoh and his
nobles. Pharaohwas a tyrant in the land, an evil-doer.
Musa said: 'O my people, if you believe in Allah, in Him put your
trust if you surrender yourselves (toHim).'
They said: 'InAllah we have put our trust. Lord, do not let us be tried
bywickedmen. Deliver us, throughYour mercy, from the unbelievers.'
We revealed Our will to Musa and his brother: 'Take houses in Egypt
for your people and make your homes places of worship. Conduct
prayers and give good news to the faithful.'
'Lord,' said Musa. 'You have bestowed on Pharaoh and his nobles
