It was He who created the sun, the moon, and the stars, and made
them subservient by His command. His is the creation, His the
command. Blessed beAllah, the Lord of all creatures!
Pray to your Lord with humility and in secret. He does not love the
transgressors.
Do not make mischief in the earth after it has been purged. Pray to
Himwith fear and hope; His mercy is within reach of the righteous.
He sends forth the winds as carriers of the good news of His mercy,
and when they have carried up a heavy cloud, He drives it on to some
dead land and lets water fall upon it, bringing forth all manner of fruit.
Thus He will raise the dead to life. Perchance youwill take heed.
Good soil yields fruit by Allah's leave. But poor and scant are the
fruits which spring from barren soil. Thus We make plain Our
revelations to those who render thanks.
Long ago, We sent forth Nuh to his people. He said: 'ServeAllah, my
people, for you have no god but Him. Beware of the torment of a fateful
day.'
But the elders of his people said: 'We can see that you are in clear
error.'
'I am not in error, my people,' he replied. 'I am sent forth by the Lord
of the Creation to make known to you His will and to give you friendly
counsel, for I know of Allah what you do not know. Do you think it
strange that a reminder should come to you from your Lord through a
mortal like yourselves, that He should warn you to guard yourselves
against evil and that mercymay be shown to you?'
