yourself from the west.'
The unbeliever was confounded.Allah does not guide the evil-doers.
Or of him, who, when passing by a ruined and desolate city,
remarked: 'How can Allah give life to this city, now that it is dead?
'
Thereupon Allah caused him to die, and after a hundred years brought
himback to life.
'How long have you stayed away? ' askedAllah.
'Aday,' he replied, 'or part of a day.'
'No,' said Allah, 'Surely you have stayed away a hundred years. Yet
look at your food and drink; they have not rotted. And look at your ass.
We will make you a sign to mankind. And look at the bones (and see)
howwe revive themand clothe themwith flesh.'
And when it had all become manifest to him, he said: 'I know now
thatAllah has power over all things.'
And when Ibrahim said: 'Showme, Lord, how you raise the dead,' He
replied: 'Have you no faith? '
'Yes,' said Ibrahim, 'but I wish to reassuremy heart.'
'Take four birds,' said He, 'draw them to you, and cut their bodies to
pieces. Scatter them over the mountain-tops, then call them. They will
come swiftly to you. Know thatAllah isMighty andWise.'
They that give their wealth for the cause of Allah are like a grain of
corn which brings forth seven ears, each bearing a hundred grains.
Allah gives abundance to whom He will; He is Munificent and All-
knowing.
Those that spend their wealth for the cause ofAllah and do not follow
