the poor. Today he shall have no friend, nor will he have any food
except filthwhich only sinners eat.'
I swear by all that you can see, and all that is hidden from your view,
that this is the utterance of a noble messenger. It is no poet's speech:
scant is your faith! It is no sooth-sayer's divination: how little you
reflect! It is a revelation from the Lord of all creatures.
Had he invented lies concerning Us, We would have seized him by
the right hand and cut off his heart's vein: not one of you could have
protected him.
It is but an admonition to righteous men. We know that there are
some among youwhowill deny it.
It is the despair of the unbelievers. It is the indubitable truth. Praise,
then, the name of your Lord, theAlmighty.
questioner called for chastisement to befall the unbelievers.
None can ward it off. (A chastisement) from the Lord of the
Ways of Ascent, To Him the angels and the Spirit ascend in one day,
themeasure of which is fifty thousand years.
Therefore conduct yourself with becoming patience. They think (the
