Thus We reward the righteous: he was one of Our believing
servants. The othersWe drowned in the Flood.
Verily among his followers was Ibrahim. (Remember when) he
came to his Lord with a pure heart; and when he said to his father and
to his people: 'What is it that you worship? Is it false gods besides
Allah that you desire?What do you think of the Lord of theWorlds?'
He cast a glance at the stars and said: 'I am sick! ' And his people
turned their backs andwent off.
He stole away to their idols and said to them: 'Will you not eat
(your offerings)?Why do you not speak? 'With that he fell upon them,
striking themdownwith his right hand.
The people came running to the scene. He said: 'Would you
worship that which you have carved with your own hands, when it
wasAllahwho created you and all that you havemade? '
They replied: 'Build a pyre and cast him into the blazing flames.’
Thus they schemed against him: but We made them the most
humiliated.
He said: 'I will go to my Lord; He will guide me. My Lord, grant
me a righteous (son).'
We gave him the good news of a gentle son. And when he reached
the age when he could work with him his father said to him: 'My son, I
dreamt that I was sacrificing you. Tell me what you think.'
He replied: 'Father, do as you are bidden. Allah willing, you shall
findme one of those who are steadfast.’
And when they had both surrendered themselves to Allah's will,
