except such as are normally displayed; to draw their veils over their
bosoms and not to reveal their finery except to their husbands, their
fathers, their husbands' fathers, their sons, their step-sons, their
brothers, their brothers' sons, their sisters' sons, their women-
servants, the women they possess, male attendants lacking in natural
vigour, and children who have no knowledge of sex. And let them not
stamp their feet inwalking so as to reveal their hidden trinkets.
Believers, turn toAllah together in repentance that youmay prosper.
Take in marriage those women among you who are single and those
of your male and female slaves who are honest. If they are poor, Allah
will enrich them from His own abundance. Allah is Bounteous,
Knowing.
Let those who cannot afford to marry live in continence until Allah
enriches them of His bounty. As for those of your slaves who wish for
a deed (of freedom), free them if you find in them any promise and
bestowon thema pan of the riches whichAllah has given you.
You shall not force your slave-girls into prostitution in order that you
may make money, if they wish to preserve their chastity. If any one
compels them then surely after such compulsion, Allah will be
Forgiving, Merciful.
We have sent down to you revelations showing you the right path,
and a story about those who have gone before you and an admonition
to righteous men.
Allah is the light of the heavens and the earth. His light may be
compared to a niche that enshrines a lamp, the lamp within a glass
