'My people, here isAllah's she-camel, a clear sign for you. Leave her
to graze at will inAllah's own land and do not molest her lest an instant
scourge should fall upon you.'
Yet they slew her. He said: 'You have but three days to live in your
dwellings. This promise cannot be disproved.'
And when Our judgement came to pass, We delivered Saleh together
with those who believed with him through Our mercy from the
ignominy of that day. Mighty is your Lord and All-powerful. A
(dreadful) cry rang above the evil-doers, and when morning came they
were prostrate in their dwellings as though they had never prospered
there.
Now surelyThamoud denied their Lord. So gone are Thamoud.
Our messengers came to Ibrahimwith good news. They said: 'Peace! '
'Peace! ' he said, and hastened to bring them a roasted calf. But when he
saw that their hands did not reach to it, he was afraid of them. (But) they
said: 'Do not be alarmed.We are sent forth to the people of Lut.'
His wife, who was waiting on them, rejoiced. We gave her the good
news of Ishaq, and after Ishaq ofYaqub.
'Alas! ' she replied. 'How shall I bear a child when I am old and my
husband is well-advanced in years? This is indeed a strange thing.'
They said: 'Do you marvel at the ways of Allah? May Allah's
blessings and mercy be upon you, People of the House. Glorious is He,
andWorthy of praise.'
And when apprehension departed from him and the good news
